ABOUT MY METHOD AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Navigating the world of trauma-informed bodywork can be a vulnerable journey, so finding the right support matters.

While each practitioner brings their own approach, I've witnessed how sometimes, even with the best intentions, bodywork can move too quickly, leading us into releases or sensations before we're truly ready.

For women specifically, our nervous systems are wired in accordance with our cycles and our hormonal fluctuations. This is a core foundation to how I work.

When we carry trauma in our bodies, listening to our own inner voice can feel complicated. We might find ourselves wondering, "Is this what healing is supposed to feel like?" rather than trusting what feels right for us.

In a culture that often tells us we're broken and need fixing, many approaches promise rapid transformation. Yet our nervous systems are wise. We need gentleness, time, and safety to truly unfold.

When we move too fast or apply pressure before the body is ready, we can actually reinforce the very protection patterns and armor we're hoping to soften.

True healing happens at the pace of trust, not force.

By laying the foundation of somatic regulation and resilience in the nervous system, we:

  • Learn to trust ourselves and our body.

  • Learn how to express ourselves in vulnerability, grounded by healthy boundaries.

  • Can feel safe enough to feel the sensations that may have been overwhelming in the past.

  • Can begin to feel empowered to hold states of anger, pleasure, pain, arousal and even trigger without dissociating or acting out.

Safety to drop into your body; safety to meet your trauma and your pain; safety to explore your boundaries and your needs; safety to discover your pleasure, that is rooted in the nourishment to the feminine, instead of the goal of release.

This kind of safety opens you to the opportunity to rewire pathways that have long been entrenched in fear and shame; and supports you in becoming present to all sensations of life.

To be present means to surrender to what is here, moment to moment. To trust that you have the capacity to navigate all aspects of life from a place of empowered resilience.

It takes time and safety to rewire old patterns and conditioning. This is my North Star in every session.

  • Since we are working with your nervous system and the subtle shifts of the body, each treatment is unique. You may experience one session where intense emotions are present. Here you may have a desire to release through crying, yelling, vocal noises etc. This is so allowed and very welcome. On the other hand, you may experience sessions where you feel numbness, mental chatter or dissociation- or you may not “feel anything at all.” This is also completely welcome and ok. Nothing is wrong with you. We create an environment in which we do not pressure the body to open. We build trust and safety and for the body to unfold at her own pace.

Under all circumstances this is a safe space for you to express yourself authentically. Where your boundaries and body are respected.

Moments of release can help us integrate traumatic events in which we were unable to express our voices, our boundaries and our needs. While moments of dissociation and numbness can show us where the body is holding onto patterns of protection that need time and safety to open.

Throughout the sessions I will be present with you and your body’s signals. At times, I might encourage you to move, breathe and vocalize in accordance with what your body needs to open and discharge the stuck tension and energy there.

The sessions are not only about meeting or releasing trauma. Sometimes what the body needs is deep relaxation and a chance for the nervous system to come back to homeostasis. In these sessions you can also experience states of immense bliss, relaxation, tenderness and pleasure. The expression of these feelings is also so welcome and allowed. These sessions serve as potent medicine to help you heal your body out of states of shock, numbness and trauma responses.

  • The time frame of each treatment is specifically designed to include intake and outtake as well as allow for ample time for your nervous system to adjust to a new environment and presence (me). Each time we come in from the outside world, our bodies require time to ground into a restful state of safety. It is only from this place that we can begin to do deep work in a meaningful and trauma informed way.

  • Yes. I am a firm believer that for deep bodywork to be fully integrated in a trauma informed way, we need to compliment it with support.

Within 24hrs of your treatment I will check in with you by text/ voice message. Here you can share anything that came up during your treatment, anything that has surfaced post session and any questions you have.

Additionally, your first 3 bodywork sessions will include an optional 1-hour post-integration zoom call where we can dive deeper into what was alive for you during the session and all that is being revealed to you after.

If you continue with me after the 3 sessions and still wish to receive post-integration then we can discuss various mentorship or coaching options to best support you.

  •  Yes, 100% yes. Everything you share and experience during your session is strictly confidential and falls under therapist-client privilege ethics.

  • I recommend loose fitting clothes that are easy to move in and in which you feel relaxed. Before beginning the treatment I invite you to remove as much clothing as you feel comfortable. At any time throughout the treatment you can request more or less coverage

  • There is nothing you need to do to prepare for a session. I do recommend not eating too heavily at least 1.5 hours before and try to avoid caffeine 2-3 hours before- but this is not a requirement. Most of all, you are invited to come just as you are.

  • During all the treatments we are in dialogue. If you feel uncomfortable during a session I encourage and invite you to speak out your boundaries and needs. If there is emotional discomfort that you choose to explore with me, we will face it together.

Due to past trauma, some women might find it difficult to express their boundaries. This is why my approach is first and foremost trauma- informed. I work very slowly and softly. I am constantly attuning myself to your nervous system and the responses your body has to my touch at various stages of the treatment. If I can see or feel that there is a boundary or a trauma response coming in, I will very gently bring your awareness to this and together we will decide how we proceed.

  • My work is trauma informed. This means I have a deep understanding of how trauma works and the profound impact it has on our bodies and our lives. I can support you and guide you back to your body through psychosomatic practices and bodywork. However, I do not practice conventional psychotherapy. For severe trauma or other serious mental illnesses, please consult a licensed psychologist

  • This very much depends on what you wish to work with. After your initial treatment we can discuss whether pursuing more or different sessions would be beneficial for your journey. I will always advise you on what is most supportive for you, regardless of whether that is continuing with me or not. You are the priority.

  • In order to avoid extra charges for you and a need to ask for a deposit, I have chosen to work from my own home. This gives you the flexibility to cancel anytime. However, it is nice if you can let me know a few hours in advance so I am able to adjust my schedule.
